Harrow
Cottage (Ifield)
This cottage
is attached to Old Plough Cottage on the east side, and dates from the 18th
century. The ground floor has diaper pattern brickwork, while the upper floor
is hung with lozenge-shaped tiles.
Old Plough
Cottage
This
early-17th-century L-shaped building was originally the Old Plough Inn; the
modern Plough, built next door, superseded it in around 1900. It has been
renovated, but retains its original chimney and roof tiles. Elizabeth Fry held
a Quaker meeting here in 1837.
Plough Inn
Part of a
group formed by the adjacent Old Plough Cottage and Harrow Cottage, this is the
newest of the buildings: it was built in 1900 to replace the Old Plough, which
was converted to residential use. The walls are clad in painted cement, and the
roof is tiled and has two chimneys.
